PrintMonohull DP-2 Accommodation Vessel

In November 2009 Lauritzen Offshore Services took delivery of the dynamically positioned (DP) Accommodation & Support Vessel (ASV) Dan Swift. The vessel was originally constructed as a RoRo ship, but has now been converted into a sophisticated offshore unit and outfitted to a high standard with 291 berths (excluding crew/catering), at the shipyard Blohm & Voss in Hamburg.

Detailed testing was carried out at Marin Institute in Holland before design and construction were decided, in order to simulate potential risk and motion analyses in all weather conditions. Also MIR (Motion Illness Ratio) was analysed and evaluated against European models and standards currently underway for ferries.

The Dan Swift is designed to work adjacent to both fixed structures, platforms and floating units such as FPSO's and semi-submersibles. It has been fully tank tested to determine its ability to maintain position and its suitability for personnel transfer in a variety of environments. The vessel is outfitted and prepared for the following duties:

·         Accommodation support

·         Hook-up, commissioning and start-up support

·         Maintenance support

·         Light construction works

·         Crane operations

The Dan Swift is DP-2 class with triplication of equipment. The vessel is equipped with telescopic gangways on the port and starboard sides and a 100mt knuckle-boom crane with active heave compensation.
